There’s a word in Welsh that doesn’t quite translate into English.
Hiraeth. Pronounced heer-eye-th.
It’s often described as a longing for home — but not just any home. It’s a deep, emotional pull towards a place. Somewhere that settles into your soul and stays there long after you’ve left.
Parc yr Hiraeth is part of your holiday experience here — 22 acres of private meadows and woodland, exclusively yours for the duration of your stay. A private country park, just for you and your dogs!

A Feeling You Can’t Quite Explain
Guests often tell us that Holiday With Your Dogs feels different.
Not just peaceful. Not just beautiful. But truly special.
Something they can’t quite put their finger on — until they try to describe it, and the words start to sound a lot like hiraeth.
It’s in the way dogs relax here. The way they move — freely, without pressure or expectation. The way their people breathe a little deeper, walk a little slower, and begin to let go of the outside world.
There’s a quiet connection that happens here. Between dogs and their people. And, just as importantly, between both of them and the place itself.
Letting the Land Lead
Over the last sixteen years, we’ve transformed sterile grazing land into a living, breathing landscape — one that provides natural enrichment for dogs and vital habitat for nature.
We’re chemical free, because the environment, its wildlife, and your dogs deserve nothing less. We’ve let the land naturalise — growing into a space that feels somewhere between wild and welcoming. We don’t provide empty fields with fencing, but a country park — meandering paths, copses of trees, benches and picnic spots where you can settle and take in the views.
For anxious, reactive, or sensitive dogs — those who find the world a little too much — it gives them the chance to simply be.
A Place That Stays With You
One of the most humbling things we’ve experienced is just how much this place comes to mean to people.
Guests who return year after year. Guests who tell us they think about spending time in the Parc long after they’ve gone home. Guests who say it feels like coming back home, not just visiting.
This place holds memories — of calm walks, quiet moments, small breakthroughs, and simple joy.
And if you’ve been here, you’ll understand why it’s so hard to leave…
…and why so many feel that pull to return.
That feeling?
That’s hiraeth.
